Making Music To Empower, Uplift & Inspire

The Nuclear Lyricist Foundation uses music, storytelling and creative outreach to inspire hope and inclusion in South Africa. It was established around the work of Ijay Swanepoel (artist name Stephen Gawking – The Nuclear Lyricist), who has Spinal Muscular Atrophy Type 2, but has chosen to use his songwriting and lyrical creativity to share positive, music, and faith-based inspiration with everyone. Now, this foundation turns Ijay’s personal journey into a platform that also serves others: creating paid opportunities for musicians and creatives (including those with disabilities) and giving free motivational outreach to communities.

Our 2027 Public-Benefit Programme will deliver three core public services:

• Single #1 (Jan–May 2027): Produce a professional music single and music video (theme: faith, hope, resilience). This includes songwriting/development, studio recording, guest vocalists/musicians, mixing/mastering, artwork, distribution, PR/radio and digital marketing.
