MY 2026 fRUNdraiser CHALLENGE - 21/22 AUGUST 2026

Thank you for considering a donation to my 2026 fRUNdraiser. This year I am returning to one of my favourite conservation organisations, the Turtle Conservation Centre. I am raising funds for my spirit animal, the turtle. 

I have chosen a very special turtle though - an olive ridley turtle and entanglement survivor. In raising funds for this individual animal, I also hope to increase awareness of the perils of ghost fishing gear and the risks of death by entanglement to all ocean wildlife. I will try to focus on the WHAT CAN WE DO? part of it all, to try make my 192 km worth every step….

THE STORY OF SAGE - THE OLIVE RIDLEY TURTLE

On 26 December 2025, a member of the public found a female olive ridley turtle stranded in a 30 kg fishing net on the beach in De Hoop Nature Reserve. The well-meaning beachgoer disentangled the turtle...
