About This Campaign
Meet Elsie Schoeman, a qualified Lawyer, a mother of 5, grandmother of 6 that underwent 2 back surgeries and still had high hopes for the future of the community. As COVID hit South Africa a lot of people in this community were on the verge of starvation. People who were able to assist was outnumbered 5 to 1. The community had no choice but to stand together. Watching this and feeling hopeless and heart broken, Elsie decided that enough is enough. She assisted as much as she could by taking food out her house to help the community. As she became aware of shelters and homeless and the amount of people there was that really needed someone who cares, not just donates. She decided to seek a helping hand. SA Harvest and Pick n pay became that hand. By donating all different food items, Elsie started the Queens sport & community kitchen. She provides people with a warm nutritious meal that not only fills their tummies but provides the vitamins and nutrients they need to live, not just survive. Hundreds in the community rely on this meal she provides every Wednesday and Sunday. ...
