Guys, I’m feeling a little heartbroken after seeing this.
I saw a man in a wheelchair pushing himself through the rain along the Sea Point promenade. I felt this pull to stop and help. In Judaism, we call it a Mitzvah .. an act of kindness, a good deed. So I asked him where he was heading. He told me he was trying to get to the bus stop by the Pavilion Pools.
I remember thinking, “Sho… that’s far.” But at the same time, I knew there was no way I could just leave him there to do it alone.. it would take hours. So I offered to push him all the way.
And honestly… it broke me.
After 4km, my arms were finished. My whole body was aching. It gave me a completely new level of respect for the people who push loved ones through entire marathons in wheelchairs. I genuinely don’t know how they do it.
