RAISING MONEY TO PAY OFF OUTSTANDING FEES

My name is Nomvuselelo Phoswa. I am writing to urgently appeal for assistance with my significant outstanding fee debt, a direct result of NSFAS defunding my previous studies. This financial block now stands between me and a critical new path: a degree in Music Therapy.

I grew up in a township called Finetown next to Orange Farm, where crime, poverty and abuse is rampant. My mom is diagnosed with clinical depression and bipolar disorder which made it impossible for her to get a job and my dad unfortunately had a stroke which hindered him from doing much. In life coming from a life of struggle I faced many obstacles that led me to attempt suicide however I survived through music and little bits of free therapy I got at Wits University and because of this I felt the need to follow a career path that will allow me to heal people through music and therapy.

My journey has shown me a clear truth. In our South African communities, we carry deep emotional and generational pain. We need healing methods that speak to our hearts. Music is that language. I have witnessed how a son...
