Rebuilding Mpho’s Home After Devastating Fire

On the evening of Sunday, 25 January 2026, my sister, Mpho, experienced an unimaginable tragedy in East London, Eastern Cape. A fire broke out at her home shortly after she had stepped out. By the time help arrived, the house and everything inside had been completely destroyed.

By God’s grace, my sister was not inside when the fire started. She is safe and that is what matters most. However, Mpho has been left with nothing except the clothes she was wearing and her cell phone. Every piece of furniture, every appliance, every personal belonging, every memory stored within those walls, even her work equipment was reduced to ashes.
 

We are incredibly grateful to community members and colleagues who have already stepped in with clothing and food donations, helping to cover her immediate needs, as well as offering her temporary shelter for the time being. The kindness and support has meant so much!
 

At this stage, no cause has been identified, and there has not yet been a thorough investigation into what led to the fire. What we do know...
