Ride For a Child 2024

I am once again riding for Home of Hope and their wonderful work. This year, I have the privilege of riding for their Special Needs school, Amathemba.

Together with Home of Hope, I believe that every child with special needs should have the right to access education, so I commend Home of Hope's work. Amathemba was founded to meet and address the educational needs of children with Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder who, because of the nature of their cognitive, behavioural and emotional needs, are not able to be met within the traditional school system. It is one of the few schools in South Africa that provides for the unique requirements of children with FASD and similar neurological disabilities.

At Amathemba, their qualified teachers, therapists, and support staff teach 36 Learners from a core curriculum, which comprises many learning programs that have been carefully chosen and adapted to their children's unique requirements.
