Road to Graduation (UCT)

I have been quite reluctant to create this campaign due to a fear of being seen and perceived, but my deep desire to walk the graduation stage has pushed me to challenge that fear.

Hello everyone, my name is Nicolette, and I have just completed my bachelor’s degree in philosophy and psychology at the University of Cape Town. How exciting, right? Unfortunately, that joy was only held briefly. I am writing this with humility, hope, and vulnerability. After years of study, commitment, and perseverance, I have met all my academic requirements, yet I am currently unable to graduate due to an outstanding financial balance.

During my time at university, I was deeply involved in student life and service. Alongside my academic work, I served as a sub warden and receptionist, roles that required emotional intelligence, professionalism, and a strong sense of responsibility.
