Lelo* is a 39-year-old mother of three, living in Welgevonden Village in the North West Province, where accessing water is a daily struggle. Despite facing immense challenges, including Rheumatoid Arthritis and partial disability, she continues to fight for her family and dreams of a better future.

The taps in Lelo’s area are far from her home, and fetching water is impossible for her due to her condition. She has to pay others up to R180 a week to bring water for her family, which is a heavy financial burden on her limited income.

With access to water, Lelo could revive her small garden, which she started to help vulnerable children in her community. This would not only support her family but allow her to give back in the way she loves most.

Nomusa* is a 75-year-old grandmother, living in Shiyabazali Informal Settlement, near Howick, South Africa. She is raising her two orphaned grandchildren, aged 10 and 12. The children attend a free non-profit school and the family survives on very small government grants.
