Rooikat Conservation

Rooikat Conservation is a grassroots project focused on protecting wildlife and habitats in the northern reaches of Gauteng. A core aspect of our work revolves around finding and removing snares, creating public awareness around their devastating impact, and involving communities in real, on-the-ground conservation.

At the heart of Rooikat Conservation is an unwavering commitment to conservation, education, and action. We remove snares, monitor wildlife, investigate environmental transgressions, run outreach events, and educate both youth and adults about the value of nature. 

While this is very much a team effort, the project currently relies to a large degree on one person to keep it moving day to day; from the fieldwork and incident response, to coordinating events, designing awareness and marketing materials, and handling communications, planning and logistics.
