Run for a Reason: Rainbows Retro

September is the Internationally recognised month for Childhood Cancer Awareness.

Our unique “Run for a reason” event is designed to take you on a journey back to the colourful and groovy eras of the past, all while raising awareness and support for our children. Lace up your retro “tekkies” and put on your Rainbows and Smiles headband and let us celebrate the spirit of unity and fun while making a difference.

Every year in South Africa, we estimate about 800 - 1000 children are diagnosed with cancer. Our socio-economic challenges, and generally poor level of awareness of the warning signs of childhood cancer, mean that many these children are diagnosed very late into their illness.

At the heart of it, the Retro Rainbows event is about making a difference.

Our athletes will do an activity daily to honour an incredible child with cancer. They will write their names on their hands and have the child’s bravery edged into our hearts.

Rainbows and Smiles is not funded by government, and we rely on the generosity of our supporters...
