Running for Red with Mama Flo 🩸

On the 14th of September 2024 I'll be running 250km through the Kalahari Desert as part of a race called KAEM (Kalahari Augrabies Extreme Marathon), carrying everything I need on my back to bring awareness to period poverty in South Africa.

As of 2024, 7 million girls don't have access to or can't afford sanitary products. In 2023, about 30% of young girls missed school whilst they were menstruating, as they couldn't afford basic menstrual hygiene products. This means a girl could lose about 90 days of schooling in a year as a direct result of issues relating to menstruation.

The fact that we still don’t have free access to sanitary pads for every woman in 2024 astounds me.This motivated me to partner with Mama Flo, an incredible Cape Town based organisation working tirelessly to provide every person who menstruates with access and age...
