Autism and Grannies?

Well, we all have a very special place in our heart for our grandparents, and many of us have been raised by them. I feel very strongly about grandparents in old age homes, who are so dependent on support from others, and most old age homes in SA are struggling. The one I am supporting, the ACVV Oranjehof Tehuis Vir Bejaardes in Upington, needs 41 automated ‘hospital’ beds for the advanced care unit. Can you imagine yourself not being able to sit upright in your bed on your own? These beds can restore a little bit of independence and dignity.

Autism has just always been a condition I have been drawn to. It is very misunderstood, mainly because people are uninformed. Autism South Africa does amazing work with the limited staff (only 14) and funds available to them, to raise not only awareness, but to educate and support families of people who have autism. In 2025 they reached more than 16500 people with their different campaigns.

So I am running a campaign in aid of these organizations, where I will run 1500km over 12 months, to raise aware...
