“Campaign Story - Help Build a Safe Swimming Pool for Hopefield’s Children”

My name is George April, and I’m the Founder & Chairperson of West Coast Sports Solutions NPO (Reg. 281-169 NPO), a small community organisation in Hopefield on the West Coast of South Africa.

For years I’ve watched our children play in the only “swimming spot” they have: a dirty, salty, stagnant river pools just running winter thru town.  
Every summer it’s the same story:
- The water is shallow, muddy, and full of rubbish.  
- There are hidden dangers - drowning risks, infections, broken glass, snakes, and worst of all, easy access to negative influences like drugs and gangsterism.  
- Many parents are scared to let their kids go near it, but there is nowhere else. No public pool. No safe place to cool off, learn to swim, or simply be a child.

This is not just about water - it’s about safety, health, confidence, and giving our youth a real alternative to the streets.
