We are reaching out to ask for your support for a truly selfless woman, Bongi, and her family in Kwathema, an informal settlement in Springs.

Bongi is a single mother of three who works tirelessly to make ends meet. She sells avocados on the side of the road to provide for her children. Through our charity, Afrika Awake, she receives a small monthly donation—which she uses to give back to her community.

Twice a week, Bongi uses these funds to buy groceries and cook meals for 150 children in her community. Despite having so little, she continues to show incredible generosity and care for those around her.

Recently, her family faced a devastating challenge. Sanele, her 7-year-old son suffered a serious fall at school and fractured his spine. After surgery and 10 days in hospital, he has now returned home—but he is currently unable to walk.

Bongi is now facing overwhelming additional pressures. Sanele needs ongoing medical care, including weekly hospital visits and physiotherapy twice a week. The cost of transport alone is more than she can manage. In addition...
