The Sanitary Pads Should Be Free Movement (FSPM) is a community-driven campaign advocating for free and accessible sanitary pads for girls and women across South Africa.

Every month, millions of girls and women need sanitary products, yet many families struggle to afford them. For some young girls, the cost of sanitary pads can mean missing school, staying at home, feeling embarrassed, or having to choose between menstrual products and other basic necessities. We believe menstruation should never be a barrier to education, dignity, health, participation, or opportunity.

Our movement was created to raise awareness about period poverty and to encourage government, businesses, organisations, communities, and individuals to take meaningful action. Our long-term goal is to see sanitary pads made freely available, especially to those who cannot afford them.
