SolarFlair from Mpumalanga is returning to the 2024 Sasol Solar Challenge!
SolarFlair, a solar-powered vehicle born from a dream and dedication and is returning for the 2024 Sasol Solar Challenge.
The most significant funding for the car has come from team members. We do not have backing from big institutions/universities, yet we compete against them. MMC kindly covered the entry fee for the challenge.
We have a car and now we are almost ready for Secunda, but we need your support on various levels of this race.
The Origin Story: The journey of SolarFlair began with Klaas Botha’s vision and Mark Schormann's support and input, to create a solar-powered car for the bi-annual Sasol Solar Challenge. Starting with a simple balsawood model, SolarFlair evolved into a competitive solar car.
Our debut in the 2022 Sasol Solar Challenge, where we raced from Carnival City Hotel and Casino in Gauteng to the Waterfront in Cape Town over eight days, set the stage for our ambitious goals. We won the rookie award....
