Imagine the place: Silent aside from birdcalls, it's a haven for wildlife such as gorgeous, big-eyed bushbuck. Occasionally, Crowned Eagles whirl in the sky, high above trees cloaked in creepers. Now, imagine a housing development marching over this stretch of land instead, right next to the proposed Ferncliffe Protected Environment. It will eat away at a vital part of the greenbelt and encourage further urban creep…
We're raising funds to ensure that this 5-hectare private property (12.5-acres) is dedicated to rewilding and conservation forever – never sold for development. It will remain home to the many creatures who rely on its green spaces to survive. And its rewilding will aid the neighbouring public reserve.
We have already raised R2.6m for the cause, thanks to an incredible donor. A further R500,000 has been pledged by the wonderful Mapula Trust – if we can match it. And now you can help us to save the rest!
