SAVE A WARRIOR’S HEART: Help Ashton Pillay Win His Battle
He’s 17. He’s a matric learner. He’s a leader. And right now, his heart is fighting for survival.
For many years, Ashton Pillay has battled bicuspid aortic valve, a congenital heart defect where the aortic valve has only two cusps instead of the usual three, leading to complications. On top of this, he faces rheumatic heart disease, which has scarred his valves and weakened his heart further. Behind his Edenglen High School leader’s badge, a war rages inside his chest.
⚔️ THE WARRIOR WITHIN
Scarlet fever left invisible scars that doctors struggled to explain. Seizures, dizziness, exhaustion — no child should endure that. With congenital and rheumatic damage combined, Ashton’s heart has carried battles far beyond his years.
But Ashton refuses to surrender. He fought his way back into mainstream school. He rose to leadership. He inspires others daily. His words say it all:
