Why we’re asking for help
We are South African independent documentary producers and creators of Profiler Africa — a true-crime podcast and documentary platform built over several years using local crews, local skills, and our own personal resources.
Between 2019 and 2024, we produced multiple long-form crime documentary series that later became subject to a Canadian court dispute involving copyright ownership and the downstream use of public tax-credit funding. These matters are now on the public record in the Ontario Superior Court of Justice (Commercial List).
We are not asking anyone to fund a lawsuit or take sides on unresolved legal issues.
We are asking for help with a very specific, practical problem:
👉 Court-ordered costs and filing fees that currently prevent us from being heard further on the public record.
