Save the Zoo Lake pool!

Zoo Lake Pool is a Johannesburg landmark that has served generations of swimmers and families. In 2028, this beloved public pool will celebrate its 100th birthday, but its future depends on urgent repairs and ongoing community support.

Friends of Zoo Lake Pool (FoZLP), a registered non-profit company, is raising funds to restore and preserve this important public space. Our work will take place in phases in collaboration with the City of Johannesburg. This includes repairing leaking pipes, repainting facilities, improving infrastructure, and addressing other maintenance needs. Our most urgent priority is to replace the leaking inlet and outlet pipes that are causing significant water loss. Unless these leaks are fixed, the pool may not be able to open for the 2026/27 swimming season. Our goal is to complete these critical repairs in time for the pool to reopen on 1 September 2026.
