Woodstock Residents: Castle Bowling Green Legal Fund
Residents of Woodstock are raising funds to help cover legal costs relating to the Castle Bowling Green site near the old Woodstock Hospital.
A group of residents previously participated in a formal heritage appeal process and successfully defended the protection of this historic space. Despite that outcome, the City of Cape Town has now brought a High Court review of that decision — meaning residents must once again respond legally to ensure their voices are heard.
Most of the residents involved are ordinary community members. They are not lawyers, and they do not have the resources that public institutions do. This campaign aims to ensure that residents can exercise their constitutional right to participate meaningfully in decisions affecting their lives, their community, and the layered history of Woodstock.
