At Tygerberg, we’re losing up to 100 organs (potential lives saved) each year due to our lack of a formalised transplant facility. Just this week a desperate family reached out to us to help them find a kidney for their six year old son, and we had to return to hospital knowing that there’ll be at least two potential kidneys being buried this week instead of being given to save him. Our solution? The “Life Pod”.
