In 2016, Sean Manders won the IPF World Championship at 40 years old. In powerlifting, that’s rare and no easy task. He did it anyway. Then he walked away. On top. On his own terms.

Ten years later, the world had a new verdict waiting for him: too old.

50-year-old men aren’t supposed to compete any more let alone at a world stage. They’re supposed to sit back. Coach. Reminisce. Watch from the sidelines.

Sean didn’t get the memo.

A few months ago, he stepped back on the platform and won South African Champs. Again. Breaking even more records. Now he’s chasing the only thing left that can prove his point beyond any argument: a chance at a second World title. At 50.

This isn’t a comeback story. It’s a rebellion against every excuse you’ve ever made for giving up.

He needs R85,000 to get to Worlds. That’s the only thing standing between him and a stage most people would’ve told him he lost the right to stand on.
