Second Cochlear Implantation

My name is Collen, and I am the proud father of Kgothatso, a bright, determined, and resilient young girl whose smile and courage inspire everyone who meets her.

When Kgothatso was diagnosed with bilateral profound sensorineural hearing loss, our world changed overnight. As parents, we worried about her future, whether she would ever hear our voices, communicate with others, or have the same opportunities as other children.

Despite the uncertainty, we never gave up hope.

In May 2021, Kgothatso received her first cochlear implant in her right ear. When the device was switched on a month later, it marked the beginning of a new chapter in her life. 

For the first time, she was able to hear sounds that many of us take for granted.

Since then, Kgothatso has made remarkable progress.
