On 18 August 2025, at just 28 weeks and 3 days pregnant with my twin girls, after enduring days of excruciating pain, we finally sought help from the gynecologist. After taking blood tests, we were sent home to wait anxiously for the results. When the results came back, the doctor immediately advised us to go to the hospital.

Upon arrival, we learned that my platelet levels were critically low. They needed to repeat the tests to see if my condition was worsening or stabilizing. I was given a steroid shot to help develop my girls’ lungs and a magnesium drip to protect their brains.

The second test confirmed my fears: my platelet count had dropped even further. My risk of hemorrhage was increasing every minute, and the unbearable pain I was feeling was due to my liver being damaged and breaking down my blood. I was diagnosed with HELLP syndrome—a life-threatening pregnancy complication. The only way to save my life and my babies was to deliver immediately.

Today was a lovely day as finally, 17 days after they were born, we finally got our first family photo! I was allowed to hold my oldest daughter for the first time.
