My name is Karyn Smith - I am a Senior Instructor at Bassonia JKA and Alberton JKA. SAJKA (South African Japan Karate Association -www.karate.co.za) is the biggest and most prestigious karate association in South Africa. The JKA have their World Championships in Japan in October this year.
Katlego Mokebe is one of our members. He is 22 years old and is currently studying Sports Management at University. Katlego is one of the top competitors in the Open Mens Elite (Black belt) division. He is ranked number 3 in the country for (kumite) fighting and is always top 8 for kata. He is also part of the Unison Kata team that has an excellent chance of being selected for the World Champs.
SAJKA will be holding their National Champs on the 18 May were we have no doubt he will again prevail as one of the top men in the country. On the 1 June they will hold trials to select the team that will represent South Africa at the World Champs in Japan. Only 5 men will be selected for the kumite (fighting) team and we have no doubt whatsoever that Katlego will be one of them. He is e...
