SOS for Life-Saving Equipment

Helicopters are used in roughly 30% of our operations and perform a Life-Saving role in wilderness rescue.

It’s impossible to hear anything when a helicopter hovers above; radios are the vital link between rescuers and the aircraft.

Until recently, rescuers have had to rely on hand signals to communicate from the ground to the aircraft.

Using new rescue headsets will allow rescuers to communicate clear information faster, ensuring that our teams and patients are safer during rescue operations and ultimately speeding up moving patients from the incident scene to essential medical care.

Funds received will be used to purchase helmet headsets and radios for rescuers during wilderness emergencies in the Western Cape.
