Sounds of Kommetjie

Presented by Kommetjie Life, in support of our local village culture, our exquisite natural backdrop and our resident artists and musicians – in partnership with Fynbos Productions.

Sounds of Kommetjie is a short film capturing the natural rhythms, voices and atmosphere that make our village unique – from the ocean’s pulse, to the unique sounding things around us that we may walk by every day, to the energy of local musicians, artists, makers, movers and shakers.

Created by filmmaker and sound explorer Josh Fynbos, the project forms part of his celebrated Sounds of series, which began with Sounds of Kalk Bay, using found sounds, and a mix of instruments, to build a piece of music inspired by the people, the ocean, and the soul of this place.

The Kommetjie edition will feature sounds of “Kommetjie” - from the rhythmic waxing of surfboards and the wind through dried kelp, to the roar of the ocean and performances of legendary local musicia...
