Meet Liza Groenewald

Liza Groenewald is not just a cancer patient. She is a long-distance runner, a loyal friend, and a familiar face in the Pretoria running community. For many years, Liza has been a steady presence at races, encouraging fellow runners, helping athletes reach the finish line and inspiring many to live healthier, stronger lives. She is known for her resilience, humility, and the quiet way she uplifts others.

In November 2025 Liza qualified for Comrades, but was then diagnosed with an aggressive cancer. Following two surgeries, including brain surgery early 2026, she was left paralysed on the left side of her body. The surgeries were essential, but it left her facing an intense and costly rehabilitation journey.
