Six Days. One Journey. A Reason Bigger Than Me.

On Monday, 5 October 2026, I’ll be setting off on a six day walk from my home in Table View to the Cederberg, where my family and I spend time every year.

It will be roughly 286 kilometres over six days, walking between 40 and 60 kilometres each day through some of the most beautiful and challenging parts of the Western Cape. It will be physically demanding, but the reason behind it is far more important than the distance.

For the past five years, I have taken part in Run for a Reason, walking each day in support of children affected by childhood cancer. Over that time, I have had the privilege and heartbreak of hearing the stories of so many incredible children and their families through Rainbows and Smiles.

Those stories have changed the way I look at the things I sometimes take for granted.
