About This Campaign
Kim Conley from Hout Bay, Cape Town, runs a fundamental after-school studio for children from Imizamo Yethu. In 2015, Kim and co-founders Mandisa Qwesha and Nandipha Sandlana started Amoyo Performing Arts Foundation so kids had a safe place to go after school—somewhere to dance, act, sing and learn the habits that build confidence: show up, be prepared, be kind.
Two of the first teens through the door were Onela Metuso and Lindelwa Hlophe. Onela arrived quietly, then grew bolder with every class. She later spent a year working in Germany, came home to earn a place at the Waterfront Theatre School, and recently played the Genie in Aladdin at Canal Walk. “The first time I met Kim I knew I was going to get stuck in her life because she came across firm but positive,” Onela says. Lindelwa followed a similar path, auditioning successfully for the same college. Their stories began with an open studio and adults who wouldn’t give up.
We want that same start for 130 children this year.
