Those who know our mom, whether as Mrs Meter or Mrs Brown, know how much of her life she has poured into others. She has spent decades giving her love, energy, and patience to her students and her community, shaping countless young lives along the way.

We never imagined asking for help like this, but we are doing so with humility and hope.

Recently, our mom was diagnosed with advanced kidney cancer. She is now facing a treatment plan that includes immunotherapy, which offers hope, but comes with overwhelming costs that are not fully covered by medical aid. The immunotherapy alone costs approximately R150 000 per month and is expected to continue for about two years. Between treatment, medication, and ongoing care, the financial reality is far more than our family can manage alone.

Adding to this strain, our mom retired at the end of 2025, after more than 35 years of teaching. While retirement should have been a time of rest and enjoyment after decades of service, it now means she no longer has a regular income to help carry these unexpected medical expenses. We a...
