I am currently completing my PhD, through Stellenbosch University, focused on homelessness in Durban, working to bridge the gap between policy, practice, and lived experience. This research is grounded in my daily work in the sector, and I need support to finish it.

I work in the homelessness sector through City People eThekwini, where I engage daily with individuals experiencing homelessness and the organisations trying to support them. Through this work, I’ve come to understand how complex and deeply rooted this issue is.

My PhD research builds directly on this experience. It looks at how homelessness is understood, how it is responded to, and where the gaps lie between what policy intends and what actually happens on the ground.

The goal is simple: to contribute practical, evidence-based insights that can help improve how homelessness is addressed in Durban, and more broadly in South Africa.
