Support Our Mother’s Medical Journey
This is one of the hardest messages our family has ever had to write, but we are reaching out with hope in our hearts and a need we can no longer carry alone.
Our mother has been living for years with multiple autoimmune conditions, including Rheumatoid Arthritis, Sjögren’s Syndrome, and Fibromyalgia. Despite constant pain, exhaustion, and daily limitations, she continued to work and push through for as long as she possibly could. She has always been the one to endure quietly and keep going for the sake of others. Sadly, her health has now declined to the point where she is no longer able to work or sustain her normal daily life.
After her admission to Tygerberg Hospital and a series of important investigations, we finally have some answers—and with them, a fragile sense of hope. Doctors have identified a serious issue with her parathyroid gland, which is significantly impacting her entire body and overall wellbeing. Specialists believe that surgical removal of the affected gland is now necessary.
