I am a Grade 11 student at Michael Mount Waldorf School in Johannesburg, South Africa. I am stepping out of my comfort-zone as I am not a swimmer, and I am working towards completing a school project on Open-Water Swimming. However, I would like to really make this swim count for more, impacting more than just myself, and hence I have chosen to swim for a cause. I will be swimming the Robben Island Escape in Cape Town in May 2025, an approximately 8km cold Atlantic open water crossing. I have chosen the organization Genesis in Port Shepstone as the NGO that I would like to raise funds for. Last year my class and I visited this place as part of a community camp and I was so inspired by the good work that they do.  I would specifically like the funds to assist the Community Hope and Care program. This part of the Genesis organization provides medical and emotional support to members of the surrounding community. The teams visit those who are victims to strokes, diabetes, HIV/AIDS, TB, Cancers, post-operative conditions and chronic illnesses. Many of these patients are bed-ridde...
