Swimming for a Cause

I am a Grade 11 student at Michael Mount Waldorf School in Johannesburg, South Africa. I am stepping out of my comfort-zone as I am not a swimmer, and I am working towards completing a school project on Open-Water Swimming. However, I would like to really make this swim count for more, impacting more than just myself, and hence I have chosen to swim for a cause. I will be swimming the Robben Island Escape in Cape Town in May 2025, an approximately 8km cold Atlantic open water crossing. I have chosen the organization Genesis in Port Shepstone as the NGO that I would like to raise funds for. Last year my class and I visited this place as part of a community camp and I was so inspired by the good work that they do.  I would specifically like the funds to assist the Community Hope and Care program. This part of the Genesis organization provides medical and emotional support to members of the surrounding community.
