Tanya de Bruin - Still Fighting Cancer

A lot of you know the biggest part of my story, but for those who don't please read along. For those who do know it, please also continue reading for an update.

In January 2023 I found out I was pregnant with our second child. A few weeks after the great news, I was diagnosed with triple negative breast cancer. I was 32 years old. A week after my initial diagnosis my father was also diagnosed with cancer. A month ago my dad, my hero, lost his battle. I promised him I won't give up.

During my pregnancy I received chemo and our son was born in August 2023. A busy (but blessed) household, with 2 under 2. In October 2023 I had to go for an emergency mastectomy as the post birth hormones complicated things a bit. In December 2023 I started with radiation, and things finally felt like we had reached a positive turning point.

With donations from a lot of people, most unknown to me, I was able to start immunotherapy in 2024.

A few months later (in May 2024), we however found out that my cancer progressed to metastatic breast cancer. This is something very difficult...
