Just a few months ago, in January, Tashreeq proudly rang the bell to mark the end of his cancer treatment journey. It was a moment filled with joy, relief, and hope. His family believed they could finally begin putting the hardest chapter of their lives behind them.
Sadly, that joy was short-lived.
Over the past few weeks, Tashreeq had been covering one of his eyes with a beanie. Whenever his mom, Aashiqah, asked about it, he reassured her that it was nothing serious. Not wanting to worry her, he kept insisting that he was okay.
But a mother's heart knows.
Last week, after repeatedly asking him to show her his eye, Tashreeq finally agreed. The moment Aashiqah saw it, her heart sank.
They immediately rushed to Groote Schuur Hospital and since then have been travelling back and forth, desperately hop...
