Tayla Clunie — A Teacher's Fight Against Cancer

Earlier this year, Tayla, a compassionate and dedicated school teacher, was diagnosed with an aggressive form of breast cancer. Overnight, Tayla and her husband’s world had been turned upside down.

For reasons beyond their control, their medical aid refused to cover any treatment. They were left to face this fight alone, relying on nothing but their savings and the kindness of friends and family to begin the long journey of chemotherapy. Those grueling months were unimaginably difficult, but she endured them with grace and courage. We are grateful to share that the treatment has been successful so far.

While the crossing of this bump in the road is inarguably a relief, we are by no means done with the battle - a few uphill slogs remain, the biggest of which is a life-saving surgery.

She has to undergo a cancer removal surgery to ensure no trace of the disease remains. At this point, it is uncertain if she’ll undergo a lumpectomy or a mastectomy. Further genetic testing (which has to be paid out-of-pocket, too), will determine whether she’ll go under the knife for...
