Team Velocity Czech Republic Competition

Western Province Figure Skating has a proud history of Synchronized Skating; which in the years post Covid ground to an almost halt.

In November of 2022 the WP Coaches were tasked by SAFSA Western Province to start from the ground up, in creating a new team with a new approach.

In record time a team was selected encompassing the best and brightest skaters in a mixed-age team; with men and women aged between 13 and 30 years old selected. The team included some very experienced skaters who have attended Synchronized Skating World Championships and some skaters who had never tried Synchronized Skating before. The team was named VELOCITY (“the speed of motion”) and with a dedicated group of parents and supporters began the task of creating a competitive team.

Synchronized Skating is a challenging discipline as it involves a team of up to 20 skaters performing a variety of footwork, group formations and manoeuvres.
