Thaba 'Nchu Book festival 2024

Thaba Nchu is a town in the Free State, and while you may not know it very well it is the home of extraordinary stories and an exceptional storyteller. Charmaine Mrwebi is a published author, librarian and founder of the Charmza Literary Club. Not content with catalysing her local community to read, write and publish their own stories she has launched the first literary festival in the region. The Thaba Nchu Book Festival which will be held from the 9th to the 11th of May will showcase Setswana literature and culture. The lack of funds has not deterred this formidable literary powerhouse, and the festival has been planned and scheduled. “Build it and they will come” resonates loud and clear with this changemaker and cultural catalyst.
