Arthur Douglas Piercy’s life changed forever in 1987 when his Mirage F1 was struck during combat, leaving him paralysed. Yet Arthur never stopped inspiring others—through his resilience, his storytelling, and his unwavering spirit.
By his side through it all has been Gerda, his devoted life partner—his anchor, caregiver, and constant source of strength. Together, they’ve faced every challenge with grace and determination.
In October 2025, we launched the Arthur Piercy Benevolent Year to honour his journey and secure their future. Thanks to the generosity of hundreds of donors and 59 Facebook groups, Phase 1 has already raised R400,000:
- R340,000 in direct donations
- R60,000 from the auction of The Mig Diaries and Ongelooflik Maar Waar
