The Heart of a Fighter: Danie's Battle

On what should have been a routine day – March 19th, 2025 – our beloved Danie, a healthy and vibrant 46-year-old, faced an unimaginable medical crisis. During a standard angiogram, a rare and devastating complication occurred: Danie's aorta tore, causing his heart to stop beating on the table.

For a grueling hour, doctors fought tirelessly to bring him back. Their perseverance paid off, and Danie was miraculously revived. However, the ordeal was far from over. To support his struggling heart and lungs, he was placed on ECMO. Surgeons had to perform intricate procedures, harvesting arteries from his leg to repair the damage to his heart – a testament to their skill and determination to save his life.

But fate dealt another cruel blow. Just four days later, Danie's right leg became severely infected, leaving the medical team with the heartbreaking decision to amputate above the knee.

Today, Danie is fighting with incredible strength and resilience. He is a fighter, and despite the immense challenges, there is hope for his recovery. However, his life, and ours, has...
