400KM ICONIC CHALLENGE 2026
The Icon's Journey Marathon (a proud member of Proudly South African) presents to you it's 9th annual multi-sporting event. The Icon’s Journey Marathons vision was inspired by the late President Nelson Mandela’s journey of growing up in the rural villages of the former Transkei homeland to becoming a Global Icon. In the physical event participants have a unique opportunity to trace Madiba’s footprints from where he was born, grew up, went to school and is laid to rest.
Twelve (12) incredible runners from across South Africa, representing seven provinces, are coming together to run 400km over eight (8) days. This grueling but significant journey traverses the heart of the Eastern Cape along the National Heritage Route.
