The Little Optimist Trust

Established in 2017 by Greg Bertish, The Trust’s mission is to inspire marginalised and healthcompromised children to survive and thrive in life. Its key focus is to promote optimism, positivity and healing through the restoration and beautification of under-resourced health and education institutions, and to offer unique experiential learning and positive mental health benefits through their Sailing Therapy programmes and Inspiration days.

The Little Optimist Sailing Academy is the first of its kind in the world. Its programmes, ethos and inspiration are based on the teachings of the Little Optimist character and book. We create safe spaces for at-risk youth. Our programmes are designed for marginalised and compromised children, whom would otherwise have no access to
sailing, the ocean and such activities. We use sailing as a tool for positive mental health intervention, around which we also teach water safety, ocean health and life skills. Through our programmes and mentorship we create the opportunity and pathway
into the sailing and marine industries.
