The Pet Ark was founded four years ago with a single mission: to provide a safe, loving environment for abused, abandoned, and surrendered dogs—giving them a second chance at life.

Two years ago, we officially registered as a voluntary NPO (Reg. No. 309-921) to build a transparent, ethical model for animal rescue and to enable donor support. Our small, dedicated team consists of three directors: Maree Koch (Managing Member), myself—Colin Parsons (Admin & Finance), and Elmarie Ward (General Member).

🐾 Our Approach to Rescue and Rehabilitation
Most of our rescues come from townships around Ndlambe, Port Alfred, and Bathurst. Many of these dogs arrive starving, traumatized, and frightened of human contact. Rehabilitating them takes time, love, and patience—often 3 to 5 months for young dogs and up to a year for those who have suffered severe abuse.

But here’s the heartwarming truth: dogs want to trust again. And they respond incredibly well to affection.
