About This Campaign

Our cancer journey started in February 2020, when what felt like a pulled back muscle and normal daily woman issues was confirmed to be Stage 3C Ovarian Cancer, on my 45th birthday, along with a tumour attached to my bowels the size of a foetus if I was 7-months pregnant. A few weeks later it was confirmed that I have the BRCA1 gene mutation too.
Due to the tumour being so big my surgical team were not able to remove it, so I had to do chemo first to help shrink the tumour. I started my first cycle of chemo in March 2020 and finished in June 2020 after having a severe allergic reaction on my last session. After my first PETscan showed I could go ahead with my debulking surgery, which was a success. In August, I was given the all clear by my Oncologist. I was an ideal candidate for a drug called Lynparza, which is a PARP inhibitor but due to it not being registered in South Africa yet, we had to pay for it out of pocket. I had an amazing guardian angel that paid for my Lynparza from October 2020 to May 2022.
My first reoccurrence...
