Everything started back in 2016, when I rescued a newly hatched dove from our garden, after three failed reunions with his nest; we were forced to raise the baby with zero knowledge. First success story and that was 10 years ago. Then in 2018 the ladies in Edgemead, that rehabilitated wild birds in their free time, were overwhelmed and burned out from exhaustion. They advertised looking for extra people that could take over, and I decided that I had “an extra hour a day”.
I had a natural ability to raise, rehabilitate and care for the wild birds without humanizing them, to ensure successful reunion back to nature. My experiences grew from 2018 while working with the wild birds, the network of previous rehabilitators and the expertise of the veterinaries. SPCA Cape of Good Hope is a triage facility with a 5 day permit. In 2022 Tweet Tweet Rescue and Rehab became the first CapeNature permitted facility, with a 90 day permit, in 40 year...
