My name is Tyrell Stewart; I'm 16 years old and a proud Olympic weightlifter. I've been doing weightlifting since the age of 10. I've recently been selected to represent South Africa in the Youth U17 Men's 65kg category at the commonwealth Youth Junior and Senior Championships this August in India.
This is a dream come true and my very first international competition - a huge step in my journey as an athlete. I've worked incredibly hard for this moment, training almost every day, and giving my all on the platform. I competed this year at the SA championships in Western Cape and won 1st place GOLD as well as best lifter for boys U17.
The challenge I face now is the trip is self-funded. That includes flights, accommodation, meals and kits for myself and my coach. That is why I am asking for help, big or small to make this opportunity possible.
