My name is Vicky. I am a grandmother, and in May 2026 I will be walking from Jan Kempdorp to Durban to raise awareness about Tyrosinemia Type 1 and to support my granddaughter, Lyra, on her medical journey.

In October 2024, Lyra became ill with flu-like symptoms but did not recover. She was admitted to Kimberley Hospital, where numerous tests were conducted. Due to concerns about her condition, Lyra was referred to Bloemfontein for further evaluation, including a kidney biopsy.
